Wolf Blass, renowned wine maker and bigger-than-life Australian, is coming to Canada for his final visit and has put aside Saturday, September 24th for a fabulous dinner with us.
October 18, 2011 - "30th Anniversary Dinner"
Wow! This is our star event of the season. A wine dinner at the new Hawksworth Restaurant, and featuring nine aged wines; the Best of the Cellar.
November 15, 2011 - "Wine & Cheese"
After a few years hiatus, we are delighted to welcome back Alison Spurrell of Les Amis du Fromage, always a popular event. As in the past, Alison will bring a variety of cheeses to go with the white wines, and a platter to accompany the reds.
January 26, 2012 - "Gala Dinner"
Keeping to tradition, our Gala Dinner will feature all wines from the fantastic 2002 vintage, taken from the AWAS Cellar. The venue will again be Tramonto Restaurant in the River Rock Casino Resort, where the food is superb, and will compliment the great wines of ten years ago. A special day as well!
February, 2012 - "Wine Principal Dinner"
The Playhouse Wine Festival will be held at the end of this month, and this gives us opportunities to have a visiting winemaker host a dinner for our Society.
March, 2012 - "Blends + Beyond"
The Australians are masters in blending grape varieties, and we will have examples of many different types for your enjoyment. It is fitting that Mark Davidson will be our moderator to open this fantastic season.
April, 2012 - "High Commissioner Tasting"
Australia is appointing a new High Commissioner to Ottawa early in 2012, and we are hopeful that he will agree to hold a tasting from his extensive cellar when he makes his first visit to Vancouver.
May 2, 2012 - "A Kiwi Affair"
New Zealand is part of our AWAS mandate to promote the appreciation of NZ wines. The New Zealand Wine growers Association are in Vancouver at the beginning of May and have set aside an evening to have an event with some visiting Principals. Venue: The Impressionist Gallery at the Listel Hotel in Vancouver.
June 22, 2012 - "The Annual Barbie"
The annual wrap up AGM and Barbie will take place at the River Rock Casino Resort in Richmond.
